Julian Shaw is the director of the break-out documentary Darling! The Pieter Dirk Uys Story, for which he won the 2007 Inside Film Independent Spirit Award. Darling! was theatrically released in South Africa and has screened worldwide, including a free-to-air television release in the USA. Darling! placed runner-up in the prestigious Panorama Audience Awards at the Berlin International Film Festival of 2008, voted on by over 20,000 cinema goers. Julian received an Australian Film Institute Award for film journalism and has also achieved success on the sporting field – earning an American Football State Championship medal in 2005 with The Lions.
Modern Odysseus is his first book.
